WHERE WE COME FROM
​All of our volunteers, committee people, leaders, grass root supporters, etc. are South Philadelphia born-and-raised. Many of the people involved in our organization are friends, family members, and concerned citizens who care about the neighborhood they live and were raised in. They want to preserve as much of it as they can, while also improving it for those of us here now and future generations.
A THRIVING COMMUNITY
Many citizens who were raised in South Philadelphia tend to say the same phrase: “The neighborhood just isn’t what it used to be…”
What many once remember as a thriving, predominantly working class and kid-friendly community, have seen it deteriorate into a crime-ridden, pothole-infested area of the city, much similar to other areas with declining infrastructure.
Working with civic and neighborhood religious leaders, elected officials, volunteers and other concerned citizens alike, we are working hand-in-hand to bring the South Philadelphia back that many families remember. All the while adding modern upgrades into the neighborhood to bring our city into the 21st century. Some of the things we assist our constituents with include, but are not limited to: pothole repairs, L&I complaints, zoning issues, tree removals, ally cleanups, as well as, all things voting.
We are working diligently to serve the people of Philadelphia, while the city’s Democratic and Republican establishment works tirelessly against us.
MISSION STATEMENT
An Opportunity
Our mission here at South Philly is simple, yet profound. Create a competitive electoral climate in Philadelphia through a more robust Republican opposition party.
Register Voters
The best way to make Philadelphia and South Philly as competitive as possible is to make sure that every eligible, like-minded voter, is registered to vote. That is the first step in taking on the establishment in both parties.
Voter Turnout
We must turnout our voters in both primary and general elections. A robust voter turnout in both will ensure that only the best candidates for South Philadelphia make it through the Republican primary and will make the Democratic candidates more inclined to serve their Republican constituents.
Building Voter Relationships
Some of the old ways still work. We are committed to grow our share of the electorate in South Philadelphia, by going door-to-door, one citizen at a time and building true friendships and relationships with our neighbors. The best way to have neighbors trust your judgment with something as important as our civic duty is to have them truly know you. When they see that our organization genuinely cares about our neighborhood, just as they do, they’ll know we're looking out for their interests.
Serving the Constituents
Our neighbors need to know that there is somewhere to go when they need help. Any issue that’s going on in South Philadelphia, the place to go is South Philly Votes. We have helped many constituents and have a strong network of volunteers, who work diligently on constituent services.
Taking on the Establishment
In Philadelphia, when people hear a conversation about the establishment they only tend to think
about the Democratic party, since they are the majority party. There is a reason why
Republicans are not competitive in the city, they have become complacent in their roles and take advantage of their conservative constituents. We at South Philly Votes are committed to
taking on any member of the establishment, Democrat or Republican, who falls short on their duty to serve their constituents.
